London Food Portal (LFP) is a product and service gateway for the growers, processors, distributors and inspectors of London's food and drink. LFP rolls up the safety and traceability requirements of the modern "farm to fork" standards into a new vision of sustainable food production, consumption and waste prevention - "earth to earth".
In the London Mayor's Food Strategy, Healthy and Sustainable Food for London (May 2006), the Report observes:
"Few attempts have been made to consider food as part of an integrated and interdependent system. Indeed, the full extent of food's contribution in London - whether as an economic driver, provider of health or a key means of celebrating the city's cultural diversity - is rarely acknowledged or fully capitalised upon" (p.19).
LFP is committed to working with the London food sector, in particular the thousands of SMEs and their millions of customers, to make the system to which they all contribute more coherent, safer and more profitable.
